Greenfaith

Greenfaith, is an interfaith coalition for the environment that was founded in 1992.  We work with houses of worship, religious schools and people of all faiths to help them become better environmental stewards. Greenfaith addresses environmental issues holistically, and is committed to being a one-stop shop for the resources and tools religious institutions need to engage environmental issues and become religious-environmental leaders. GreenFaith is always looking for new ways to offer hands-on environmental solutions to communities that need them most, examples include;

  • Through Lighting the Way Program, In 2003, GreenFaith worked with the solar installer Sun Farm Network to launch Lighting the Way, an opportunity for religious institutions in New Jersey to install solar electric systems on their buildings at no upfront cost.  23 religious institutions around New Jersey participated, and these solar arrays are hard at work generating clean, renewable energy--preventing over 8,536,000 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions from entering earth’s atmosphere over the next 20 years.
  • Through our Healthy People, Healthy Planet Tour, we distributed free Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs in urban congregations and agencies in New Jersey, helping these communities cut their energy costs and educating them about environmental health issues. Over 40,000 light bulbs were distributed in 2 years.
  • Through a partnership with PSE&G - a leading New Jersey utility - we enrolled over 500 residents of eight New Jersey cities in the Whole House Energy Efficiency Program - a free home energy audit program.
  • GreenFaith and AP Solar in 2012 offers NJ a Zero Cost Residential Solar Program.  Through the Campaign, eligible New Jersey homeowners can have a solar array installed at no cost and enjoy overall savings on their electric costs.
