Omar has fulfilled many technical roles culminating in senior positions including Engineering Director, Regional Manager, Project Director, Project Manager, Business Developer, ERP Process Leader and Consultant with domestic and international expertise in the energy sector for over 30 years. Responsibilities as a Regional Manager included management of a portfolio of power projects with a contract value of over US $3 billion. Extensive experience with a variety of power plant technologies and fuels. Recently, Omar led a team, for an American multinational conglomerate corporation, consisting of 12 project managers for the execution of 32 thermal projects in 9 countries with 21 customers and a contract value of US $3 billion, driving risk mitigation, margin enhancement, on time deliveries, cash collection/other metrics and customer/team satisfaction. Extensive international travel.

  • Prepared business plans through market assessment, project selection and screening.
  • In-depth experience in the negotiation of agreements and settlement of claims.
  • Investigated the technical and economic feasibility of a biomass project in northern Costa Rica. Prepared report for all engineering, economics, conceptual design, and environmental permitting.
  • Prepared the electrical interconnection design and specification for a 800 KW Gas Turbine for parallel operation with the Electrical Utility of Puerto Rico (PREPA).
  • Responsible for project management, planning, coordinating, and design engineering.
  • Managed project development; agreements, permitting, engineering & economic evaluation.
  • Monitored cost, schedule, permitting, agreements and quality of project with clients.
  • Obtained project design basis and coordinated preparation of the design report.
